Author Guidelines

Alburuj: Journal of Education and Islamic Science accepts original research manuscripts (empirical or theoretical) that have not been published previously or are not currently under consideration by any other journal. Submissions must adhere strictly to the following formatting and structural guidelines.

1. General Requirements

  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in proper English or Indonesian.
  • File Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • Page Setup: A4 page size, single-spaced, 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides, typed in Garamond 12 pt.
  • Length: Manuscript length must be between 4,000 - 6,000 words (including abstract, tables, figures, and references), with a minimum of 4,000 words for the main body text.

2. Structure of the Manuscript should generally follow the standard IMRaD structure:

  • Title: Concise, informative, and describing the essence of the study, Maximum 10-15 words, Capitaize Each Word, Garamond 16 pt.
  • Author Details: Full name(s) without academic titles, institutional affiliation, country, and corresponding author's email address.
  • Abstract: A single paragraph of 150-200 words summarizing the background, objective, methodology, key findings, and conclusion.
  • Keywords: 3 to 5 specific terms, separated by semicolons.
  • Introduction: Clearly states the research background, literature review, gap analysis (novelty), and research objective.
  • Method: Describes the research design, participants or data sources, instruments, data collection techniques, and data analysis methods in detail.
  • Results and Discussion:
    • Results: Present empirical findings using tables or figures where necessary.
    • Discussion: Interpret the findings, connect them with existing theories/prior literature, and highlight theoretical or practical contributions.
  • Conclusion: Concise summary of key findings, implications, limitations, and future research directions.
  • Acknowledgments (optional):
    • Authors should acknowledge any external support received for the research, including funding bodies, research grants, institutional support, or individuals who provided technical assistance, language editing, or valuable feedback.
    • If the research was supported by a specific grant, provide the full name of the funding organization and the grant/contract number.
    • If no funding or external support was received, explicitly state so.
  • Conflict of Interest Statement:
    • Authors must include a explicit statement at the end of the manuscript (before References) declaring that there is no conflict of interest regarding the research, authorship, and/or publication of the article.
    • Example phrasing: "Conflict of Interest: The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper."
  • References: Minimum of 20 references for Research Articles (25 for Review Articles). At least 80% must consist of primary sources (reputable scientific journal articles) published within the last 10 years.

3. Citations and Reference Style

  • All citations and references must strictly follow the APA Style 7th Edition format.
  • The use of reference management software such as Zotero or Mendeley is mandatory.
  • Include Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for all referenced journal articles where available (e.g., [https://doi.org/10.xxxx/xxxx](https://doi.org/10.xxxx/xxxx)).

4. Tables & Figures Guidelines

  • Integration & Placement: All tables and figures must be embedded directly within the main text body near their first point of mention.
  • In-Text Citation: All tables and figures must be explicitly cited in the text using numbered formats (e.g., “As shown in Table 1...” or “...illustrated in Figure 1.”). Avoid using vague references such as "in the table above" or "the figure below".
  • Table Formatting:
    • Tables must be created using the Microsoft Word table tool (do not insert tables as static images/screenshots).
    • Use the standard APA 3-line format (horizontal lines only at the top, bottom, and below the column headers; no vertical lines).
    • Typed in Garamond 10 pt with single line spacing.
    • Table Caption: Placed above the table, left-aligned, and numbered sequentially (e.g., Table 1. Title of Table).
    • Source & Brief Note: Placed below the table in Garamond 10 pt. Include a brief explanatory note summarizing the data/abbreviations used, followed by the source (e.g., Note: Data processed by authors (2026) or Source: Adapted from...).
  • Figure Formatting:
    • Figures, graphs, diagrams, and photos must be clear and high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
    • Figure Caption: Placed below the figure, left-aligned or centered, and numbered sequentially (e.g., Figure 1. Title of Figure).
    • Source & Brief Note: Placed immediately below the caption in Garamond 10 pt. Include a brief narrative explanation of what the figure illustrates along with its source credit.
